Do A Little Turn on the Greenwalk

Too sexy for global warming? Beat the heat and be a part of the solution at Portland Fashion Week- where Spring/Summer 2010 collections of eco-couture, urban casual, street, and activewear will be showing October 7th- 11th. The 2006 "Country's #1 Sustainable City" winner is not only a mecca for modern art, design, and urban development, but is revealing itself to be one of fashion's best-kept secrets, holding the second longest running fashion week on the West Coast, and the world's only completely eco-friendly, sustainable fashion week production!

Green has been the new black for a while now, but this green runway show of nationally-acclaimed sustainable designers takes it a step fashion forward towards a sustainable future by demonstrating by example how thoroughly green fashion can be, using everything from eco-friendly materials to construct the runway, to eco-safe styling products to make up the models, to certified sustainable hotels for their guests. And as if all that isn't contribution to the greener good enough, Portland Fashion Week also pays it forward to their independent, eco-friendly designers, allowing them to save some green and still participate and gain exposure, giving designers such as Project Runway winner Leanne Marshall their start. What better reasons to shake your little tush on over to Portland to be a part of this clean, green fashion scene!

Making the Cut(offs)

You worked hard to get your body beach-ready this summer, no need to let those legs go into hibernation as the weather turns colder! Make the cut for the best-dressed list this fall with the newest cool-weather fashion trend: the chic pairing of denim cutoff shorts with tights. Seen in the Marie Claire fall fashion issue and off the Chickdowntown website, models around the globe are falling for this great fall trend.

Proportions should be loose fitting on top; pile on layers of scarves, or try the look with hoodies, cardigans, or jackets on top. For shoes, try a ballet flat or chic boot. With the bevvy of stylish textures, prints and colors for tights that will also be hitting the fall fashion scene, the possibilities for different looks you can create around this pairing are endless.

Denim cutoffs paired with tights certainly makes the cut as the perfect fall outfit: casual and comfortable, yet cute and stylish, and a great way to keep warm and still show off those gams!

Seeing Red

Top designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, and Marc Jacobs will be sending their models charging down the runway at upcoming New York Fashion week in the season's hottest hue: red. The versatile color, with shades to flatter any skin-tone and complement any personal style, is the perfect way to get noticed this fall. Worn head-to-toe, or to add just a splash of color, the color red adds sizzle to any ensemble, keeping you hot while the weather cools down. It may be a myth that bulls are attracted to the color, but you'll want to take a place near the front for the running of the style-savvy to score this season's red-hot looks!
