Red Carpet Glamour

The Fein Girls were glued to our television sets last night to see what the stars would be floating down the Emmy's Red Carpet in. There was an abundance of red, dusty lavender, black, one shoulder Grecian styles and ruffles. And after much deliberation, we have come to a consensus on the Top 10 Best and Worst dressed of the evening.
We thought we would start with the Worst Dressed, to get them over quickly, almost like ripping a band aid off, you know?

1. Actor Ty Burrell of "Modern Family" wearing an ill fitting grey tuxedo paired with horrendous tan shoes, that take on a clown shoe effect. To make matters worse, he is pictured here with his wife who looks more like a pinata, without the delicious candy. The Washington Post mentioned that she looked like a "just married" getaway car. Now that's funny!

2. Let us preface by saying we are ashamed to even critique a reality "star's" wardrobe choice, but it was too awful not to. Kate Gosselin really went for the whole mom look with this super boring black halter dress with sequin cowl. We are getting a very strong chaperon at the prom vibe from this choice.

3. And Miss Universe 2010 goes to....Oh wait, that already happened. Then why the heck would you pick a pageant dress to wear to the Emmy's? We don't know, but Sofia Vergara from "Modern Family" must. This sweetheart neck mixed with sequins in an odd cream color, screams "where's my tiara?!" All she needed was a nice sash with her home country on it.

4. Nurse Jackie was in need of an outfit doctor last night, big time. Edie Falco, looked dumpy and dull in her one shoulder black gown. The fit and cut of the dress were all wrong for her athletic build. Congrats on the win though!

5. We felt anything but "Glee"for Jane Lynch's ensemble. Although the plum color and one shoulder cut was rather nice on her, the bottom half of the dress is what made us crinkle our noses. Did she jump out of a plane to make it to the red carpet on time? Thank goodness for that parachute the designer added as a skirt then!

6. Ugh, this one pains us to write about given that we LOVE "Mad Men" and the ultra beautiful January Jones...but we are almost speechless for this choice of dress. The gown is a gorgeous Versace, but didn't translate so well off the catwalk. Not to mention the styling of the undone hair and boring black pumps. Her stylist should have gone for drama with this look instead of tousled and messy with a couture garment. We can't believe someone got paid the big bucks to put this look together for her.

7. Jewel. Oh poor little Jewel. Baby doll dress gone bad. The lace, the up do, the huge earrings, and not to mention the satin bow, there was too much going on here and made her look more like Pam Anderson, to be honest.

8. Another star who took their look waaaaay too far, Heid Klum. She is just as cute as a button and has always been a stand out on the red carpet for us, until now. The hair, makeup, jewelry, dress and shoes are all too overdone. Does she not realize with a body like that, less is more??

9. We thought we totally missed that Xena Warrior Princess had been brought back from the dead when we saw Anna Paquin from "True Blood". Again, another runway look that does not work for a short actress. The cut of the dress even adds the illusion that she has a tummy, eek!

10. Didn't realize there were swamp lands at the main entrance, poor Toni Collette from "The United States of Tara" must have been wrangled out of the muddy water! Her gown starts out with a nice pewter color, then fades into a grass stained mess.

Now that the hard part is over, we turn your attention to the more elegant looks of the evening.

1. Sorry for the reality "star" nod AGAIN, but this beautiful white Marchesa gown made us forget why Kim Kardashian became famous. She was styled so flawlessly and seem to glide down the red carpet. We are definitely keeping up with were this Kardashian is going.

2. A controversial pick, yes, but we are suckers for a good red head in a pale shade of lavender. Christina Hendricks looks divine in this delicate Zac Posen number. Dainty Ostrich feather accents top the gown off nicely too. She looks angelic!

3. Oscar de la Renta can seriously do no wrong! The man is a genius, just take a look at Lea Michele from "Glee". She is mounted atop a swirl of navy taffeta ruffles and wearing exquisite jewels to boot.

4. Monique L'huillier made an appearance in the form of an elegant ruby confection worn by Kyra Sedgwick from "The Closer". The delicately pleated dress, paired with the dusty rose clutch, bangles and wavy hair, and strong lip, all worked together in a great way. She looked effortless.

5. Wow, wow, wow! Claire Danes was a winner in more way's than one last night. She was absolutely radiant in her Armani Prive dusty pink sequin gown. The simple silhouette complimented by earrings and hair styled to perfection, reminded us of old Hollywood glamour.

6. Normally making our Worst Dressed list, or being completely forgotten, Tina Fey knocked our socks off this time. She chose a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta silk satin gown with beaded overlay that fit her like a glove and was unlike anything else on the carpet. Kudos to Tina for hopping aboard the Oscar train!

7. How gorg did Jenna Fischer from "The Office" look?! Complete 180 from her character Pam Beasly, Jenna chose a vintage Versace gown in Salmon and a lightly tousled and curled quaff. Divine!

8. Elisabeth Moss went for ultra glam as well with this beautifully draped Donna Karen gown. Again, another great red head in a pale shade and she looks stunning!

9. Lavender was a big hit for the evening and Emily Blunt wore the trend well. Delicate flowers were scattered across the lavender Christian Dior frock, which complimented her dark hair and milky complexion perfectly.

10. Brooke Burke looked ravishing in her white Mark Zunino gown with peek-a-boo slit up to her thigh. Her hair cascading down one shoulder and just the right amount of accessories, gave her a timeless quality. Absolute perfection.

Well, there you have it, our recap of Emmy night style. We would love to know what you think too! Give us a shout using the ever so handy "comment" box below and tell us your thoughts.
