Fashion Travels: Destination N'Awlins, Dawlins!

In a city as rich in arts and culture as New Orleans, the fashion viewpoints are as expressive and diverse as the city’s inhabitants. With no shortage of live music venues, grand openings putting forth the latest in creative cuisine, and street fairs and festivals that last for days on end, the Crescent city’s trendy set are always ready to put their best dressed foot forward.

At the annual BBQ & Blues festival the locals came together to celebrate their mutual appreciation for the city’s local culture while expressing their own unique style. Hip, urban styles, often accented with sweet, Southern accessories, and layered looks were abound. One cute couple even got creative supporting their home team the Saints in style!

Local couturiers such as Avante Garb and Fit to be Tied took advantage of the trendsetting crowd setting up booths to display their whimsical wear. (By the way, have you guys ever checked out Etsy? GREAT place to find all variety of hand-crafted wares, or to set up shop to sell your own creative couture!)

The New Orleans nightlife is where the city heats up as well as the style. Local hotspot The Republic (home of one of the most fun throwback dance parties you will ever attend!) hosted a charity event benefiting Desire NOLA, a group dedicated to rebuilding New Orleans, featuring a fashion show put on by Local Threads. Get inspired by these and other fun and funky fashions from the show next time you want to add some cajun spice to your night or take a trip down to the dirty south!
