Sweet Treats for a Moody Monday!

Got a case of the Mondays?

Here at CeCe Feinberg we know nothing chases off our inner grouch like a little sweet indulgence. So where are the best places in the city to grab a little girl food?

Crumbs Bake Shop

Since first opening their doors on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in March of 2003, Crumbs has been delivering divine comfort food to the lucky citizens of New York City. Although Crumbs offers a full menu of sweets, their specialty is the Crumbs Signature Size cupcakes. There are more than 50 varieties made fresh daily, and they’re also available for delivery!

We can’t resist: The Girls Night Out Cupcake Combo! It’s a perfect little indulgence for you and your ladies. The flavors include Margarita, Cosmo, (Cocktail cupcakes? Say it isn’t so!) Chocolate Praline, Raspberry Chocolate Curl, Oh La La (Chocolate cake filled and frosted with pink tinted vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a heart shaped brownie) and a Vanilla cupcake topped with pink cream cheese frosting edged with sprinkles. Yum!! ($27.00)

Sugar Sweet Sunshine

If the title wasn’t enough to put you in the mood for sweet treats, their story just might. Founders Peggy & Debbie met back in the 90’s performing in “The Music Man” in Brooklyn Heights. Having both worked in bakeries, the two knew they wanted to create a warm, cozy and fun place of their own with a 60’s, 70’s vibe to it.

“We are truly driven by the love of what we create every day, and it comes not just in the form of a cupcake, but in the knowledge that we truly make people happy every time they walk through the doors of sugar Sweet sunshine.”

We can’t resist: The ‘I Love New York Cheesecake’ ($5.00 a slice/ $45.00 a whole). It’s simply divine!

DOUGHNUT PLANT

A second generation baker started this business in a basement bakery in 1994. Due to high demand for the delightful treats at local coffee shops, Doughnut Plant opened its doors on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1999, and has since revolutionized this traditional morning delight. With flavors like Peanut Butter and Jelly and Mango we recommend you give into the temptation!

We can’t resist: The Crème Brule—the Plant’s most famous doughnut. We’re not alone, Maxim Magazine also voted this doughnut one of the 10 best in America. “Think of this masterpiece as a Boston Cream on crack... fine yeasty dough injected with vanilla custard topped with burnt-sugar crust.” ($3.00) Yes please.

Cake Shop

This funky little place can satisfy your sweet tooth and any cravings for the alternative music scene in NYC. Aside from some butt-kicking espresso and vegan goodies, the shop also hosts a number of shows featuring names such as The Blood Brothers and Dew Claw. Did we mention it’s also a bar and record shop?

We can’t resist: The vegan Red Velvet cupcake—a guilt-free sweet! ($2.50) Also, free copies of The Onion are available, pick one up and treat yourself a little more with some laughter.

Wishing you a sweet start to the week!

XOXO
