TODAY Nordstrom will be making its New York City debut with the opening of the Rack in Union Square. The 32,000 square foot store will offer 50-60% off its original retail prices, new merchandise arrivals almost everyday and an on-site tailoring service. With over 25,000 pairs of shoes, 2,000 pairs of denim, 2,400 handbags, 1,000 watches and a larger array of sizes for almost all departments, the Union Square Rack will be engineered to be as New Yorker-friendly as possible with the introduction of a checkout line system a la the Whole Foods operation where a large television screen will direct customers to one of 19 registers.

The discount retailer will join the mix of Century 21, Filene's Basement, TJ Maxx and DSW currently dominating the city's fashion-conscious/budget minded scene. Get there to score clothing finds from D&G, Michael Kors and BCBG Max Azria, lingerie from Calvin Klein, Elle Macpherson and Chantelle, beauty products from Bliss and Stila, and accessories from Prada, Fendi and Burberry.
