The American Debut of Dolores Cortés

Friday July 16, 2010 at 7:30pm

The Raleigh Hotel, Poolside

Dolores Cortés made her stateside debut, unveiling her S/S 2011 Collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim as the only European designer on the American-heavy runway.

The veteran Spanish swimwear brand sent models down the catwalk in footwear custom designed by fellow Spanish shoe designer Paco Gil. The Miami presentation of the fabulous collection marked the kick-off of the Spaniard’s “American Project” and plans for the line’s expansion.

fashionfromspain.com writes:

Dolores Cortés’s summer 2011 collection can be divided up into four clear-cut trends: safari-chic, for urban women; a French bohemian style inspired by the 1950s in acid tones; exotic shades and motifs taken from Australia’s Bells Beach and Denim Western, with a romantic air and vintage influence from 1970s America.”

FORMzine.com writes:

The flow, the cut, the details, everything about this collection’s cover-ups are perfection, reminding both the fashion industry as well as the customers that it really does matter what goes over your swimwear. With Dolores Cortes cover-ups and a pair of stylish sandals, a bathing suit becomes a fashionable, completed outfit!”
