Holy Toledo!

Ok, for some last night was just October 29th but for one of ours it was their birthday! Most go out to celebrate but we had to make a pit stop before cutting loose. We ran to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and by "ran" we walked as fast as we could in our heels :) We wanted to see a legend ... "Mr. Ruben Toledo" while secretly hoping to spot Isabel ;) We came across a small roadblock which took the form of a "CHECK IN." No biggie we just waited a bit until there was a lot of people and waltz right by ...we looked important teehee. Taking our seats close but not enough to be considered "SwimFans" (CRAZY STALKER LIKE) We waited for a few moments and then to our surprise there stood BOTH OF THEM ... we died. We sat there listening and hanging on every word. We were taken on a journey through fashion history with truly expert guides. Finding out how he creates and she designs was an experience. The crowd asked questions we just pondered the idea of such a great inspiration only feet away.

After the conclusion of the panel, we rushed the stage to have works of art created before our eyes inside our newly reinvented classic books. (SEE ABOVE PHOTO) This night was magical! We can't wait for the next series of books to hit the shelves! (Dracula, Jane Eyre, The Picture of Dorian Gray)

Topshop Rings In The Holiday Season

Ladies, I’m sure none of you are strangers to Topshop. The Kate Moss brand launched in 2007 has sold pretty darn well with just about every collection, and its latest is most likely going to continue on that train.

The Christmas 2009 Collection officially drops today, and I for one am digging the oriental opulence the line has going for it. The Asian-infused designs reflect Geisha glamour with just the right amount of modern day styling. The silk, sequins, faux-furs and suede used in many of the pieces do a lot to rev-up your basic little party dress, and this holiday season, classic with a twist is where it's at.

Also, check out the new Kate Moss and Topshop collaboration: Lingerie! Created personally by Kate (notice the first name basis we are on), her inspiration for the line she cites as her obsession with vintage slips. Righteous and right on point with the whole inner-wear as outerwear trend. Clever, Kate.

Office Attire Dos and ... Please Don'ts

As we creep along into the cooler months of the year while battling Mother Nature, it is important to keep in mind that we still have to get to the office on time and in style.
But the question of the day isn’t how to get there…. it is what to wear?

Now, everyone has had those days when you’d rather crawl back into bed after having dismally scanned your closet only to (sigh) find nothing. (If you haven’t you therefore are Victoria Beckham and if that is the case, hi Posh!)

But most of us have a closet of a more normal size, with contents that sometime require a little imagination to jump start each morning. But ladies, it is good to keep in mind that simple can be chic.

Yes, we realize that every office is different, we here at Cece Feinberg PR can get away with a lot more then the Wall Street drones. But we always keep it stylish.

A few big faux pas we find most girls doing as they head to the office are as follows:

1. Pants too Tight
2. Top is too low cut
3. Too Casual
4. Too much makeup
5. Lastly, bad breath

Buy a pair of pants that fit the largest part, which is usually the hips, then do a light jog to the tailors and have them nip in the waist. The idea is to command attention with your knowledge not your physical attributes. (The low tops are for after work, girls).

Overall, put yourself together. You don’t have to wear a suit everyday, because a skirt or pant with a good ballet flat and a blazer, which are so chic right now anyway, will not kill you! In fact, I'd wager that they'd probably help you should you happen to venture to little after-work shin dig if you catch my drift...

Easy breezy beautiful is so very true! Keep it simple. You don’t want to look like a circus performer. Lastly, gum and Mentos (the fresh maker) travel well, never leave the house or the office with out one.

In other words: check your breath when you check yourself out.

Nars Celebrates With 15x15

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Nars. To celebrate such a fête, François Nars, the classic makeup company’s founder and creative director, plans to rejoice by commemorating some of the people which made his vision of cosmetic domination possible.

15x15 is his photographical salute to the fashionably abstruse. Nars was both the makeup artist and photographer for the book which features 15 of his nearest and dearest, including but not limited to: Marc Jacobs, Isabella Rossellini, Amber Valletta, Dayle Haddon, Naomi Campbell, Amanda Lepore, Daphne Guinness, Olivier Theyskens, Shalom Harlow and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
The idea is simple: there are two inspirations for each shot: an iconic image, person or emotion and a classic Nars product. The result: the portraits are intended to transform their subjects into new personas. Marc Jacobs, for example, channels a Richard Avedon photograph of the iconic 1960s-model China Machado.
Interestingly, after Nars finished photographing his subjects he gave each of them a Leica camera and had them capture an inspirational shot of their own, which will also be included in the book. 15x15 is available beginning November 13 at 15x15project.com. Ladies, there are only 1,500 of these books available, each of which holds an $80 price tag. Did I mention that all money made will be divided among the pet-charity of each of the subject’s choice?
So other than the fact that this is a coveted collector’s item for a good cause, why else should you want this? In the words of François Nars: “There’s something very different on every page, you don’t get bored.”

Avoid being THAT GIRL this Halloween

Ok ladies, here were go.... we are down to the wire for the Halloween '09. Some of us here have had our costumes picked up for month's (you know who you are) others don't even have a clue. We always run into the same issues a) being cold, b) wearing heels this night, and c) having too many adult beverages.

Here are some tricks to get you through the night!

1.Wear flats or a wedge heel

2. Layer you can still look flirty and fun with an extra layer or two (ie tights)

3. Pace yourself it is going to be a long night (have a water in between)

4 Charge camera the day before (you never know what you might see)

5.Leave a little to the imagination. (Any animnal ear + lingerie DOES NOT = a costume) get creative and try something vintage.

Keep It Classy,

Homeopathic Hair Care; The Inside Scoop

Secrets Of An Indian Women’s Hair

As every woman knows, proper hair care is a basic principle of a good beauty regime, and ladies, we’ve got the inside scoop of one the best types of homeopathic treatments out there.

Have you ever wondered what the secret is behind the illustrious locks of so many Indian women? Well, I’m going to let you in on a little insider information: it’s all about oil!

For centuries since the Mughal era, Indian women have been using special oils as a way to keep their hair silky smooth, and not to mention thick and long... (if you dispute this, please see one of our favorite actresses, Freida Pinto)

The most popular products that are used among Indian woman are Parachutte (coconut oil ) and Vatika (coconut oil with lemon).

Both of these products are located at any Indian grocery store near you, so what are you waiting for? This is the perfect weekend project!

How to apply:

1.) Make sure your hair is not freshly clean
2.) Depending on how long your hair’s length, apply the oil until damp
4.) Keep it in for 30 minutes
5.) Then rinse (in my opinion, it’s better to wash it out with TRESemmé deep cleansing shampoo and apply it twice until our hair feels dry and also apply the TRESemme conditioner.

You will see the results instantly!

Parachute is known to make your hair grow faster and Vadika is known to make your hair thick. Don’t worry about whichever you choose, both will make your hair feel silky smooth!
Whatever you prefer, it works!

Enjoy your lovely locks, ladies!

Dieppa Restrepo; Not Your Father's Menswear

Ladies who thrive on out-of-the-box style, this one is for you!

The Colombian duo Andrea Vargas-Dieppa and Elisa Restrepo are the fashion visionaries responsible for the elegant yet casual unisex footwear known as Dieppa Restrepo.

Their signature designs are full of unique additions to the classical tuxedo-style worn by Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other icons of the past. With more than 15 colors ranging from salmon pink to electric purple and multiple leather combinations, Dieppa Restrepo has transformed menswear into a fashion staple for the color-friendly, urban woman; clearly not for the shy at heart!

Two Colombian natives, Andrea from Barranquilla and Elisa from Medellin, were by fate united in New York City by one shared dream. The two then set out to launch their gentlemen-inspired footwear collection in May 2008.

The unique style of the line stems from each of the girls entrance into the fashion world. Andrea, a former graphic designer, had her start as an art director for Lloyd & Co., while Elisa recalls the boldness of Parisian fashion as her inspiration.

And ladies, let’s be clear about one thing, we are not talking about any ordinary type of shoe; Dieppa Restrepo illustrates bohemian chic, with just the right touch of contemporary-urban style, perfect for the fashion iconoclast of today. And did we mention there are no high heels involved?

Dieppa Restrepo is a walking contradiction… no pun intended. Playful custom lace-up options in classic patent leather shoes. Timeless but fresh, cozy with a no-nonsense attitude. The perfect combination for your office attire but chic enough to wear them with a short skirt; manly enough to show who wears the pants, but graceful enough to do it with style.
And we’re pretty sure the Rat Pack would have enjoyed some color in their ensembles.

The Fragrances of Fall

This Monday, we pose a question for our readers: is not the world of celebrity endorsements getting a little out of control? In particular, does it not seem like nearly every celebrity has jumped on the fragrance train?

Now, I will be the first to admit that, if given a chance, I would gladly take a little stroll in the Jimmy Choos of Catherine Zeta-Jones (Elizabeth Arden) or Charlize Theron (Dior), for they are completely bankable powerhouses disguised as luminous women which walk among us; but the list of people with fragrances is a mile long! And apologies in advance, but it includes some questionable names (show of hands if you want to smell like Avril Lavigne…anyone?)
In this world, which is already fraught with an endless amount of technicalities and options (i.e. decaf? Caff? Grande? Venti? Iced? Soy?...the list goes on), would it not, at times, be a breath of fresh air to have someone compile a list for you? You know, one that weeds out the bad from the good? A list that still gives you options, but none of those options will make you cringe and wish you spent your money elsewhere?
If so, then you are in luck!
This Monday, the Fein Girls present our top 10 list of Fall’s most desirable fragrances!
Voilà !

1. Lola (Marc Jacobs)

2. L'eau Ambree (Prada)

3. Cristalle Eau Verte (Chanel)

4. Purse Spray (Leiber)

5. New West (Aramis)

6. Acaqua Fiorentina (Creed)

7. Eau de Parfum (Muguet Blanc)

8. HALSTON (Halston for Women)

9. Light Blue For Women (Dolce & Gabbana)

Last but not least… one of the fellas:

10. Halston Man (Halston)

Who Says Paper Can't be Fashionable?

The night of October 14th was a magical for one of ours truly; Ms. Amanda Eufer had the pleasure of rubbing elbows with fashions elite, extraordinary artists, and movie stars at the Museum of Arts and Design’s first annual Paper Ball Gala.
Amanda was able to attend this monumental event because of her talent and dedication to all things beautiful. Amanda was propositioned to create a one of a kind fashion accessory using the required medium of Paper.
Amanda let her imagination run wild and created a floral caplet entitled “ Flower Me with Love.” The piece was showcased along with likes of Mathew Williamson, Kai Kuhne, James Rosenquist, Issey Miyake, Bliss Lau, and Hugo Boss among many others.
Amanda being the true fashion PR girl stormed the Red Carpet dressed to turn heads of the Fashion Crowd and determined to inspire others. She created not only a piece to be showcased for the event but sculpted a piece just to wear for the evening. (See photograph with Co- Host Rose McGowan)
The night of enchantment did not stop there. Never faltering in sky high heels as she with others danced the night away. She was making a dream reality as she said “Do dreamers every really sleep?”
We salute you Ms. Amanda Eufer. We can’t wait to see your dream play out in the big city as you set out to make an impression on the fashion industry.

Designer Highlight: Jennifer Elizabeth

Baubles galore!

This week we Fein Girls are mad about Jennifer Amenta, the creative force behind jewelry line Jennifer Elizabeth.

Hand-picking each piece of her collection from flea markets, estate sales and antique stores, the 25-year-old FIT graduate is no doubt reaping the benefits from this labor of love because Jennifer Elizabeth has successfully combined vintage and modern pieces into fresh and fashionable couture jewelry; your grandmother’s pearls have never looked better!

With one set goal in her life, this small-town Connecticut girl, traded quiet evenings for bright lights when she moved to New York City in 2007. There she worked as a fashion designer for two years before launching Jennifer Elizabeth in May of 2009 (Fashionistas, you may have admired her creations during New York Fashion Week when she partnered with Karen Sabag Spring 2010 Couture Collection to create accessories for the dresses).

Jennifer Elizabeth not only combines vintage pieces, but its designs are inspired by unconventional trinkets that produce one-of-a-kind jewelry. An example of this -- and our favorite-- is the “Miss Mary-Kate,” a necklace made up of vintage gold chains with black crocheted fringe.

Her intricate use of black and gold makes it right for just about any outfit, chic for either day, or night.

We feel we should warn you....while wearing her jewelry, there is chance of being stopped in the middle of the street by admirers; but who doesn’t love a fan club?

Fashion Travels: Destination Asheville, NC

Today we travel a little further off the beaten path to Asheville, North Carolina, which earns its place on the fashion map as a hotbed of inspiration for the street urchin style, "hippy" counterculture that has been making its mark on the current fashion scene. Think refurbished vintage pieces you pick up at Urban Outfitters, and the layered looks of incognito celebs we emulate after seeing the paparazzi shots featured in our favorite gossip rag. Asheville is home to this at its most organic, deconstructed level, and as we find our way through the recession we can find some inspiration from this small, progressive town full of DIY denizens.

Here are a few photos from Mountain Xpress's Asheville Street Style, described as a photographic record of Asheville's "unique and evolving DIY fashion."

Local designer Ashley of her own line Tegonia describes Asheville as a place where people are "wearing what they want, weird things that other people might have second thoughts about wearing." Threadbanger, ( www.threadbanger.com ) an online gathering place for DIY fashionistas, visits Ashley in their video series "Threadheads" for a DIY tutorial, and stops by local boutique Honeypot for an inside look at the one-of-a-kind creative couture characteristic of Asheville designers.

While I might not put Asheville at the top of my list of shopping destinations, I'm definitely taking notes on their creativity and fearlessness, not to mention DIY designing is a great way to get more wear from your wardrobe, reduce waste, and never be seen in the same outfit twice!
